When I think of all the ways I’ve met my clients, go to colleagues, friends in business, partners, and associates, I begin to make a mental list of what technologies helped me do that. LinkedIn is certainly a great invention. Meetups are a common occurrence. TweetUps are now a verb and a noun.
We use these resources often in the form of mobile applications, on the go, while we’re on the train, in an airport, in an office building, in our homes, or on the street. We constantly virtually network. For example, what if you were an electrician, and needed to go to a conference to learn your trade. You could meet others with your knowledge and specific expertise.
Research has proven that when you meet someone in person, the impression you leave is much bigger than if they simply read your LinkedIn profile.
So how can you streamline this?
- What if someone with your specific interests, business practices, education background, or career objectives suddenly appeared within your immediate area?
- How would you know?
- There are hundreds of Meetups happening around you that you may not be aware of.
